Despite our 30-plus years of activism, women's rights are still in jeopardy. Reproductive freedom is precariously close to extinction, childcare costs have escalated out of control, and the ERA is yet to be voted into law. In addition, the numbers of women serving in state legislatures and in statewide elective offices are at their lowest points since 1998 and the number of women elected to Congress has only increased three percent since 1993. These threats make the advocacy and work of the National Women's Political Caucus more important than ever.
